Three Quick Tips For Reducing The Price Of Your Wedding Dress

With the internet and with modern brides today, there are many more options than before for brides to find inexpensive wedding dresses.  Thanks to google and ebay there are a lot of choices!

Here are a few quick tips to help you out!

1) Buy off-season or last-season. This would be November-December time frame. This also happens to be when the bridal business slows down so you will find lower prices and/or more flexibility

2) Buy the accessories separately. For convenience you can get them at the bridal shop, but realize that wedding dress accessories tend to have a high markup at the bridal shops as well. Ebay is great for this!

3) You do not need to find the perfect size dress. Even if you do get the "perfect size dress" you will need to alter it to fit you exactly anyhow. So finding a dress in a close size is sufficient. And then get a professional tailor to finish the job.

And a last tip, Ebay is a great source for wedding dresses as well. Make sure to find a "reputable" seller (high feedback ranking). Many really nice dresses, new and used, are on ebay for very little money. To put it in perspective, a nice wedding dress at a local store may cost you $1500. A comparable wedding dress on ebay could probably be found for $50 to $200.

As an example, I just did a search on ebay and here is one seller that has some nice dresses for about $200 and under

And a final great tip is to start moving away from the traditional style and find modern and simple styles.  Keeping a foothold in tradition, the modern bride has many options too.  Check out Light In The Box's "Dresses under $100" (though some of them are above $100 but they are all still very nicely priced!  Talk about your simple, elegant, and cheap wedding dresses).

Renting A Dress!

Don't forget that it is becoming a bit more common these days to rent a dress!

Sure sure, there is something special about owning your wedding dress for sentimental reasons (which adds to the cost by the way: cleaning and storage).  However I do not know many brides who actually do anything with their wedding dress after their wedding except complain about lugging it from house to house as people move and pack and move.

I think it's pretty glorious to think about handing down your wedding dress to your daughter or granddaughter, but in the same vein when you're out looking for a dress, do you think it's more fun to find your own?  Or to possibly wear grandmother's?

I don't know many brides who wear heirloom dresses.  I think many brides want to be fashionable and current.

So a good way to save?  Rent a dress - save the heirlooms for jewelry or other timeless accessories.  And enjoy looking beautiful in your dress for that day!
